Eastern Provinces Tour 2026

So for our little vacation time this Fall, Shelley, Maggie, and I will be travelling to visit Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island, and return.

We will post our adventures here for you all to follow along during our little vacation. We already have a number of things pre-planned that we are excited about. The first is that we nabbed a time spot in Halifax to tour the Alexander Keith’s Brewery. Spots on this tour are limited per day, and get sold out so we pre-booked our date and time.

The driving route to the East

The second reservation is for a nice supper at a restaurant I went to with a naval friend of mine in Halifax back in 1993, called CUT Steakhouse. I was impressed with this restaurant because they bring a trolley of select cuts of meat to your table for you to pick out. They then ‘cut’ the meat and weigh it, before taking it to the kitchen to be prepared for you. They also make your Caesar salad right at your table for you the old school way.

We have our hotels booked for the trip along with two ‘AirBnB’ locations in PEI and Halifax. We have a road itinerary planned and are now busy looking at various things to stop and see along the way. We only have a couple of ‘heavy’ driving days in the itinerary, so we can stop and poke around during our journey without worrying about time.

One of the other locations I’m looking forward to seeing is the Kamouraska area near Rivière-du-Loup where we will be staying on our first night in Québec. One of my ancestors on my mother’s side was named Antoine Roy dit Desjardins; he being my 9th great-grandfather. He was a Master Cooper, like his father before him. I am hoping to find some burial sites and take some photos, but at a minimum it would be neat to be in the area where they once lived. He came to New France with the Carignan-Salières Regiment in 1665.
