A long while ago while I was snooping around in a local antique shop, I came across a well aged pipe. I saw that it was a Dunhill pipe through the glass, and that the stem was discoloured, but I was unable to ascertain anything further until I had a closer look.
The shop owner came and opened up the cabinet and handed the pipe to me. I flipped it over and saw that there was a patent on it, and that the orange price tag on it said, “$26” on it. There was also a little chunk missing at the rear part of the rim. I bought the pipe and when I returned home I set it aside for a bit, knowing that it was going to be sent to Vancouver for some TLC.
Here is a link to the blog run by Steve Laug, who refurbishes pipes. I met Steve years back in the Vancouver Pipe Club when I lived in the Lower Mainland and I knew he’d be able to get the pipe back up to snuff.

I received the pipe back today and I have to say that it looks ever better than in the photos. Steve does fantastic work and really loves what he does. You can tell.
I’m looking forward to enjoying a bowl of something good in it later this afternoon.
